I work closely with all the members of the lung cancer team to help patients with lung cancer and other lung conditions. We treat patients with mesothelioma, a rare lung cancer usually caused by contact with asbestos dust. Also, patients with malignant pleural effusions which cause a build up of fluid in the lungs.

I am the first point of contact for patients. I provide support, advice and nursing knowledge to patients and their families. I also act as a resource for nurses and doctors who care for patients on the wards.

Patients and their families also need support with their on-going care. Most patients see me in the clinic for regular follow-ups once treatment has finished.

Finally, I liaise with General Practitioners and the hospice care team to communicate information about on-going care.
